Thanksgiving Eve

So it’s that time of year.

Thanksgiving: the slower paced precursor to perpetual present purchasing.

The calm before the storm {with left overs}.

I’ve always loved Thanksgiving.

Yet, I have never been to a parade…hmmm?

And being the Eucharisteo pursuer  that I am, the holiday of Thanksgiving gives me extra incentive to pause and be mindful of my own bounty, spilling out, running over, in a rushed blur before me; disguised as hyper children, a messy home, the same yard, the same view out my streaked window, the same dependable companion for over 13 years.

My pre-Thanksgiving list:

#1,154- hot, hot wood stoves as the wind blows hard and bitter all night and day and an hour left alone to sit in front of it while I sew name tags on hats and gloves:  simple, dorky. boring, kinda lame hand sewing that relax me and satisfies my need to organize and be productive

#1,156- Prayer of blessing over my children my our new Pastor (who remembered all their names!) at the end of a Sunday service.

#1,157- Conversations with Tim late into a Sunday night with the football game on mute

#1,158- Urgent care, X-rays, medical insurance, pain relievers, and a vehicle when My Big Girl fractured her wrist

#1,159- Dr. Who: Day of the Doctor; a movie night in, steamed from Amazon (somehow) to our TV

#1,160- Home made cardboard bow ties and everyone chanting about a hundred times: “bow ties are cool” { its a Dr. Who thing, don’t try to understand}

#1,161- Tim’s home made pizza

#1,162- Tim’s wise council and a stiff upper lip telling me that The Babe “is playing your like a fiddle” and “make her go to school” and then being home to “persuade” her to get ready for school and out the door on a Monday morning

#1,164- The world that J.K. Rowling has spun- it has been a constant imaginative companion for 7 months now- whenever life gets stressful and/or mundane I just open up whatever Harry Potter installment I am on  {just finished book six}

#1,165- Ann Voskamp’s new Christmas book: The Greatest Gift, and the Jesse Tree advent activity that accompanies it.

#1,167-A  Backyard more slush than snow that four girls still rush out to play in

Happy Thanksgiving and May All Your Pilgrim’s Be Well!

Linking up 2 days late with Ann’s Blog: Multitudes on Monday

Cheers.

ps

Thanks for the word of encouragement and prayers from several of you concerning my last post about The Babe possibly not going to pre-k anymore.  Not such a huge deal in the large scheme of things, but a big extra ball of re-planning in my days and mother guilt.  Daddy stepped in, when Mama was wavering, and she is going to school: crying or not. She got off the bus Friday afternoon with a smile a mile wide wearing this paper pilgrim hat, running happy towards me.
