Late Afternoon on the Front Porch:Shadow Shot Sunday #2 & August Break Shot # 9

  P5200058

I cannot even my imagine living out my Summers without our front porch.  Even though an incessant stream of cars, trucks, over-sized utility vehicles, and big rigs at about 45 mph noisily fill my view and my ears.  In the morning, and often while making dinner; when part of dinner preparation needs to cook or boil for several minutes, I slip out.

We have a lovely, much more private and quiet back deck.  This deck faces the back yard, obviously.  Our back yard is the "kid zone".  Never picked up.  Spilling over with crazy, yelling, and demanding ~that ~Mommy~ and~Daddy~ push~ them~ on ~the~ swing, four daughters.

On especially long and tiring days, loud traffic suddenly does not seem all that bad.  And we sneak out to the front porch.

And yes, we lock the front door behind us. (but they always find us)

Cheers!

  1. Of course they find you–you’re Mommy and Daddy!
    IF I HAD A SHADOW
    If I had a shadow as big as the sky,
    I never would fear, and I’ll tell you why:
    My shadow would save me from dragons and things
    That fly in the night with terrible wings;
    My shadow would keep me away from the beast
    That sniffs in the west and sniffs in the east,
    Hungry for children who play all alone,
    Hoping to feast upon blood, upon bone;
    My shadow would be my protector and knight
    To keep fear at bay, to banish all fright.
    I’m so glad my shadow is always nearby,
    Though it’s not nearly as big as the sky!
